Set in 1938, "Saving Starbird" is an unusual adventure story following the exploits of two thirteen year old children who are thrown together by a succession of weird and unexplainable events. These start for Sally and Archie when they are happily playing on a sunny Devon beach, but then, without warning they are plunged into contact with a strange and frightening hidden world. Unsure if they are in the grip of witchcraft or an evil-eye curse, the story follows the children in a series of dangerous, and at times, terrifying adventures. With the help of two older children, the four embark on a perilous race against time to save the life of a mysterious and powerful being, who is now totally dependant on the bravery and resourceful ideas provided by the young people for his survival.
