Astrid, a naďve teenage girl, marries Philip, her prince charming who loves and praises her yet later abuses and tries to break her. However, fate then steps in and reveals the lie that gives her strength and the wings to fly, ultimately freeing her from the grip of despair from a marriage steep in ill repair.
