Food security for people is the prime concern of any nation. Fish Protein is now well recognized all over the world but many developing nations export fish to earn much money. Fish is a living resource and it can be harvested on maximum sustainable yield by knowledge of scientific management practice. The present studies on E. muticus are given in 11 chapters. Ribbonfishes are widely distributed in tropical and semitropical seas of the world. Indian represents six species, E. muticus is one of the ribbonfish among dominant four species. The random samples were collected from around Mumbai coast from August 1997 to August 1999. Biological studies based on month, sex, and area wise parameters of Morphometric and meristics, Food and feeding habits, Reproduction, Length weight relationship and condition factor of the species in separate chapters. Intensive studies of stock assessment based on age and growth, mortality, population dynamics have been carried out by using FiSAT softwares. Knowledge of these parameters could be used for sustainable management of E. muticus. All references are cited in the text.
