Containing the books "Ruth Fielding at Snow Camp" and "Ruth Fielding at Lighthouse Point," this volume continues the trials and tribulations of a young girl, Ruth Fielding, an orphan who goes to live with her miserly uncle, Jabez Potter, and his housekeeper, Aunt Alvirah Boggs, who is "nobody's relative, but everybody's aunt." Uncle Jabez reluctantly provides for Ruth and never expresses any kind of love for her, while Aunt Alvirah loves her like a daughter. Ruth is determined to stand on her own and become independent of her uncle, but she has many obstacles to overcome. * * * * "Ruth Fielding at Snow Camp" takes place during Briarwood Hall's winter break.
