In areas underlain by hard rocks, groundwater development is confronted with considerable challenges due to limited primary porosity or insufficient permeability to yield adequate water to wells. This becomes a primary constraint to socio-economic development in many developing regions due to the difficulty encountered in developing reliable water supplies from groundwater sources. Various models have been used to evaluate the yielding potential of hard rock aquifers through the determination of aquifer water-transmission and water-storage abilities.
