This book offers a legal and socio-political analysis of the creation, implementation, modelling and functioning of the Brazilian Program for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders. Additionally, the project includes case studies from Colombia, Guatemala, and Mexico. It fills a gap in the literature regarding Latin American public policy by investigating the process that led to creating the Brazilian Program, how it has worked since its creation, who its beneficiaries are, its broader effects and main challenges, and what can be done to successfully improve it.
