After a brief hiatus to get a PhD at Harvard and spend a few decades developing cancer biotherapies in the biotech industry, he finally returned to his lifelong passion, the arts. He currently does freelance writing, traditional music, studio recording, and documentary videography in the San Francisco Bay Area. Kirston knows that a new poem is finished when he can read it out loud and his golden retriever, Bella, does not leave the room.
