This new book represents results of the last 30 years of research on gall inducing insects in the Neotropics. The book is comprehensive and brings to the light new and important aspects related to the biology, diversity, distribution, and evolution of the gall-inducing arthropods and their associated organisms. Furthermore, it includes chapters on the anatomy and physiology of galls. In addition to the regional aspects, new syntheses are proposed in several chapters, what will turn it into a major reference to the study of galling insects worldwide. In this regard we can cite the chapters on galls at the canopy of tropical forests; the interplay between galling insects and their host plants; the adaptation of galling herbivores to their host plants and consequent/derived geography of diversity and distribution. Furthermore, the book also brings to the light new information in conservation biology using galling insects as bioindicators of habitat quality. The book shall be divided into three parts (1 The galls induced by Insects; 2 The evolutionary ecology of Neotropical insect galls; and 3 The biogeography of Neotropical galling insects) and will consist of about 23 chapters.
