This book investigates the socioeconomic implications of Nigeria's adoption of the neo-liberal policy reforms on the human development capacity and capabilities of operators in the informal sector which has witnessed massive growth both in size and content over the last two decades. The book paints a vivid picture of the nature and characteristics of operators in the sector whose participation in the national economy has been faced with a variety of constraints including high social costs burden of accommodating the travails of the reforms, lack of access to resources (materials and capital), markets, land and basic infrastructure. Besides, operating in a hostile environment characterized by non-pro poor socioeconomic policy and dearth of effective political leadership, the standard of living of majority of operators engaged in informal sector activities has been on the decline. This book is therefore a profound attempt to understand the dilemmas that the lack of investment in people bring to the fore as a result of implementing economic policy that lack human face and how the people try to just get ahead or just survive .
