"Marine Animals in Traditional China" edited by Roderich Ptak comprises two articles in English and three in German. Each paper looks at one marine animal or one animal group in traditional Chinese texts. The focus is on ancient zoological terms and descriptions, symbols, and other cultural elements that can be associated with these creatures. This includes, for example, culinary aspects, metaphors in poetry, medical uses of certain products, as well as trade and commerce. Der von Roderich Ptak herausgegebene Sammelband "Meerestiere im alten China" enthält zwei englische und drei deutsche Beiträge, die sich jeweils mit einem Meerestier bzw. einer Gruppe von Tieren in traditionellen chinesischen Texten befassen.
