Given that the gender equality spectrum today is rooted in the third wave of feminism, this collection brings together and dives into a range of issues that are often briefly mentioned-or not included at all-in primary gender communication and sociology texts typically adopted for use in gender courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In essence, this book prioritizes the critical thinking that continues into the present day to help support the notion that we, as a society, still have a ways to go toward full gender equality in all spheres of life; feminism, indeed, is not dead. The collection positions marginal/minority work and voices as central rather than as a brief mention in a larger body of work. The broad thematic topic areas include parental identities, advice, and self help; gender performances and role expectations in media; interacting within organizational and social spaces; and tensions and negotiations on politics, health, and feminisms. The chapters in this collection interrogate the transitional era of gender in which we have made notable progress on an array of gender issues, yet there is still much work to be done.
