E-learning objects as complimentary tool for teaching

This research was to explore how to use learning§objects to teach the topic of decimals to a group of§ten-year old students.§There were 2 groups of 59 students. One group was§the control where they were taught using the§traditional method of whiteboard while the other§group used the learning objects to help them in their§concept building.§There was a pre and post test to find out how much§they have learnt using both methods.§The results shows that the use of learning objects§was a good teaching tool to be complemented with§traditional teaching and learning methods. For both§classes, there was an improvement in score from the§pre-test that was carried out. When the results were§compared, it was found that the group who used the§learning objects scored comparably well with the§other group who used the traditional method of§learning. Both the classes did not do significantly§better than each other.
