After defeating the Selador Sorceresses in the first volume of the Pelarian Multiverse Chronicle, 'Situation Vacant', Ruth Watson has now established herself as the Mage Prime of the Multiverse and is growing into her powers. She is driven to find a cure for her emotionally damaged son after the final battle with the Selador Sorceresses. But below the surface of the seemingly peaceful Multiverse a new threat is emerging.
