Code mixing and switching is natural in bilingual and multilingual settings in general and bilingual Hindi English speech community in particular. This book belies the fact that code-mixing and code-switching is not arbitrary, in fact it is natural and patterned. It also postulates certain constraints on code mixing and cod-switching. Also, there is a difference between the code mixing by the people who are not competent in the language they are mixing and the people who are competent in the language.
