Twenty five varieties of spring wheat were evaluated at the Department of Botany, Hazara University Mansehra during 2010-2011 for characterization of wheat germplasm for yield and root trait associated with drought tolerance by employing RCB design. Seventeen morphological traits were studied including ten vegetative and seven yield component traits. For drought ten root traits were studied in two pot experiments. It is concluded from the present study that three genotypes remain on average for desire yield components i.e KSK, Raskoh and Abdaghar 93. This morphological study distinctiveness recommended these three genotypes for high yield and our study also concluded that primary root length and shoot length is drought associated traits on bases of water difference in experiment one and two that genotype showed better efficiency in experiment 1:2. The traits which were found significant in experiment 1:2 all are recorded for genotype Local white it is recommended that Local white genotype can provide better efficiency in drought conditions.
