While the reception of Charlotte, Emily, and Anne Bronte has drawn extensive attention from critics in the United Kingdom and in the United States, much needed scholarship on their position in other wor(l)ds - languages and cultures - remains to be done. This collection of essays looks at the works of the Bronte sisters through a translingual, transnational, and transcultural lens, viewing them as examples of heteroglossia, hybridity, and postcolonial reworkings. In applying principles of postcolonial theory, reception studies, translation theory, media analysis, and comparative literature, this collection would stand as the first book-length study of the works of the Brontes sisters as received and reimagined in languages and cultures outside of Europe and the United States.
