The need to understand the perceptions of minority femaleshas grown, as American schools become more ethnically diverse andmultilingual. This suggests that female and minority principalsplay a role in the achievement of students. Despite this, theresearch on educational leadership largely excludes theperspectives of women and minorities, and research shows, that theycontinue to be under represented in educational leadershippositions. An effort to address the lack of minority females ineducational leadership must occur. This book will focus on theinsights of 13 Asian American female school administrators, whosuccessfully negotiated the journey to educational administration.It will illuminate their common experiences, insights, as well asidentify their perceived barriers and enablers to success.Understanding the viewpoint of Asian Females is a critical factorin improving efforts of schools and universities towards increasingtheir numbers in educational leadership.
